Gewiss Group presents the Sustainability Report 2023

The GEWISS Group presented the 2023 Sustainability Report carried out in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the most recognised reporting principles, GRI sustainability reporting standards, published by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The document summarizes the results and concrete actions in the social, economic and environmental fields carried out by the Group in the last year.

 

"This second sustainability report - commented Paolo CERVINI, CEO of GEWISS Group confirms our commitment to sustainability. It improves our carbon footprint and the focus on our human capital is still increasing. It is however an unstoppable path that must push us with concrete actions to do better and better in the coming years".

 

IMPROVES ENERGY PERFORMANCE AND LESS WASTE. Efforts to improve energy performance continued in 2023, resulting not only in economic investments and plant efficiency projects, but also in awareness-raising and training actions, Overall, the GEWISS Group achieved a 14% reduction in energy consumption compared to 2022. In particular, the consumption of natural gas used for heating and industrial processes fell by 31% in 2023. In line with this, direct emissions fell by around 24%.

 

In 2023, the group’s waste amounted to 2,835 tons, a reduction of 2.5% compared to the total waste produced in 2022. In particular, hazardous waste fell by 7%.

 

MORE ATTENTION TO HUMAN CAPITAL. With the aim of improving the quality of life of employees, reconciling work and family commitments, and create a healthy and efficient working environment continued in 2023 the use of the company welfare platform and the promotion of initiatives dedicated to the protection of workers' welfare, including training sessions during the "sustainability week" on health and safety and nutrition issues.

 

In addition, the "diversity &inclusion" action plan has been defined, which includes projects to promote the culture of inclusiveness in the GEWISS group, including the training programme for all group managers, which will be extended in 2024 to all the Group’s more than 2,200 employees. And if we look more closely at the promotion of human capital, 43,249 hours of training were provided in 2023.

 

In line with the continuous improvement of its activities and processes, at the end of 2023, Gewiss S.p.A. obtained the ISO 27001 certification  - information security management system in the field of information services and implemented the requirements of UNI/pdr 125:2022 for gender equality management systems in organisations, which led to certification in the first quarter of 2024.
